PARASITE wins the 2020 Academy Awards


The 92nd Oscars were held on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. The Awards were televised live and screened at Cinemas during our Annual Red Carpet event.

Our Host Jeff Knoll was joined by Adamantios Kuphos who assisted as Co-host for the evening’s festivities.

It was a night to CELEBRATE the movies.

As our sold out Cinema watched on, PARASITE was the film of the night taking home four Academy Awards at the Oscars including BEST PICTURE, DIRECTING, INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM, and WRITING (original screenplay).

Parasite made Oscar history

This social satire is about greed, class discrimination and a mysterious interloper threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan. Parasite is NOW PLAYING at Cinemas: tickets & showtimes

Parasite is the the first non-English language film in Oscar history to win the award for Best Picture.

It is also the first film from South Korea to be nominated and win.

Writer, Director and Producer Bong Joon Ho won all three of the categories for which he was nominated, now with three Oscar wins to match his three nominations.

In his acceptance speech, Bong Joon Ho paid tribute to his fellow nominees.

“When I was young and studying cinema, there was a saying that I carved deep into my heart, which is that ‘The most personal is the most creative.’
That quote is from our great Martin Scorsese. When I was in school, I studied Martin Scorsese’s films. Just to be nominated was a huge honor. I never thought I would win.”
