Let’s Make a Movie Camp

Our Make a Movie! Camp focuses on Film Creation and Movie magic for grades 1-7. Through our program we work to encourage greater self-confidence, role-model appropriate behaviours, encourage social and emotional maturity, and, of course, put a huge push on individuality and creativity!

Our camp is designed by both a Certified OCT teacher and our resident “Film Experts”. Our camp is then implemented by trained and supported staff with expertise in the field.

We have a minimum 1:10 ratio of adult to child allowing us to provide greater focus on your child’s enjoyment during the Let’s Make a Movie! Camp.

The Program

Drop off: Supervision begins at 8 am.
Camp starts at 9 am.

Pick-up: Between 3:45 pm & 4:00 pm

Grades 1-7

After care is available from 4pm-6pm for $10 per child, per day.
Please book after care in advance.

Kids will work on their movie’s story through storytelling games and activities, including storyboards and improv. They will learn to outline and script their story. We’ll learn about roles on a movie set, and camera and lighting techniques.

Throughout the week, kids will spend a lot of their time creating their movie with the help of their counselors, broken up with games, crafts and activity breaks. It is a lot of work to complete a film in just 1 week, but our Film Experts are there to guide our campers through the process.

Within 1 week of the end of camp, our Camper’s finished movie will be available for online download.

Parents may pre-order a lunch option from the theatre (available Monday – Thursday). Lunch option comes with pizza or hot dog, a ‘veggie of the day’, and a fountain drink or juice box.

Campers watch an age-appropriate movie on the big screen and receive a popcorn/drink combo on both Monday and Friday.

Cost: $280 per camper, per week
Cost for 4-day weeks (please see schedule): $235 per camper, per week

NEW! Make a Movie LIT Program

Our Leaders-In-Training Program is designed for grades 8+ students and offers an introduction to leadership techniques, camp counselling, AND an opportunity to create their own movie during the week with industry standard film equipment.

This Program is offered with limited spots available and corresponding with specific weeks of Summer Camp.

Our LIT’s will participate in a variety of activities that will enhance their leadership abilities and their experience in a camp counselling role. Our LIT’s will work with the camp counsellors as their mentors to assist them with planning and running small activities in their assigned camp groups.

Day to day activities include workshops lead by LIT coordinator and other Sr Staff at camp, hands on experiences with campers during filmmaking and lots of games and activities within the LIT group to improve their communication skills.

The program is working on both soft skills – building communication skills, organizational skills, and leadership skills – as well as a main focus on team building through collaboratively creating a short film using industry standard equipment.

Cost: $240 per student, per week

LIT program officially begins at 9:00am, though drop off can take place any time after 8:00am.
