Film.Ca Cinemas is launching a new web-based movie review show for and by kids. We are looking to cast six children between the ages of 8-13 who will make up our movie review panel.
The commitment involves attending screenings of family, and some PG based, movies prior to the actual Friday release of the reviewed film in theatres. The review panel will watch the movie together and immediately following participate in an on-camera discussion about the film.
The host of the show is Film.Ca CEO, Jeff Knoll and he will asked questions and moderate the discussion to ensure that all panelists are able to express their opinions about the film that they have just watched.
The goal is to provide children, and their parents, a review of each movie from the prospective of the intended audience.
Each show will focus on one film and four of the six chosen reviewers will be selected to appear based on availability and the age appropriateness of the material being reviewed (i.e. 12-year-olds will not be reviewing movies intended for very young children).
We are looking for three boys and three girls to make up our review panel. This is a role for strong willed and open kids who are not afraid to share their opinions and ideas. Candidates must be articulate and have a good attention span to be able to remain engaged with all other panelists as they are speaking.
Please send a letter of interest with the child’s age, gender and a list of any acting, public speaking, modeling, singing experience and any other details that might help us get an idea of your child’s potential to be successful in this role. Also, send a head shot photo as well as a short video of the child reviewing his/her favorite movie or tv show (note – a video shot with a phone is fine, please make sure it is well lit and audio is clear).
Candidates selected to audition will participate in a mock review setting at Film.Ca Cinemas with the Director, Casting Director and the show host Jeff Knoll.
Each panelist will receive a small $50 stipend for each show he/she appears on plus passes to attend unlimited movies at Film.Ca for them and a guest while they remain part of our panel.
We are asking for a six-month commitment with the potential of renewal. The first taping will take place on Thursday April 11th, 2019 for the film “Missing Link” with future taping dates being made available to those chosen for in-person auditions.
Your child’s privacy is important to us so we ask that you NOT POST PHOTOS, VIDEOS OR LETTERS OF INTEREST TO SOCIAL MEDIA. Email only to firstname.lastname@example.org
Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 3, 2019 @ 10:00 PM.
