Do to rescheduling necessary to accommodate additional performance of the Oscar winning Hurt Locker, we have had to cancel weekday performances of The Chipmunks: The Squeekquel".  Alvin and his friends will be back for the weekend and all of March Break for matinee performances.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause!

In order to meet the demand for performances for Hurt Locker, we have added a 7:00 performance as of Monday, March 8, 2010.  Therefore, for Monday, March 8 through to Thursday, March 11, Hurt Locker will play at 7:00 and 9:30 daily!

That may seem like an odd headline, but we have had a terrible problem at the Mews with a very cold lady's washroom during the winter months since we started operating in 2005. The problem is the way the theatre was originally built and it has been like this from day 1.

We have some good news ladies.  We have found a way to heat that washroom and it is now toasty and warm for your comfort.

Come by and try our lady's washroom and see a movie while you are there. Perhaps buy some popcorn too.

Oakville - We are pleased to report that we have decided to keep Avatar for another week but this time in 2D. If you do not like 3D or do not want to pay the 3D surcharge, this ia your chance to see this epic! 2D performances start Friday, March 5th. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
One of the downsides of having our spiffy new digital cinema is that we only have one and that means that popular movies sometimes have to leave earlier than we would like. Case in point, Avatar is closing at Encore Oakville on Thursday to make room for Alice in Wonderland 3D. You still have time to catch a 3D screening of this incredibly successful flick. Check it out soon. This is NOT a movie to experience on DVD! Jeff the CEO - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Halton Greens Screens is proud to present: Food Inc.
Thursday, February 25, 2010 @ Encore Oakville Mews Cinemas
7:00 pm  All seats $5.00
www.haltongreenscreens.ca

In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. We have bigger-breasted chickens, the perfect pork chop, herbicide-resistant soybean seeds, even tomatoes that won't go bad, but we also have new strains of E. coli--the harmful bacteria that causes illness for an estimated 73,000 Americans annually. We are riddled with widespread obesity, particularly among children, and an epidemic level of diabetes among adults.

Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto) along with forward thinking social entrepreneurs like Stonyfield's Gary Hirshberg and Polyface Farms' Joel Salatin, Food, Inc. reveals surprising--and often shocking truths--about what we eat, how it's produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here.

First of all, we would like to apologize to any guests who experienced a bad presentation in cinema 3 at our Burlington location. We appreciate your patience, but we are pleased to advise that the offending proojector has now been replaced and the presentation quality is back to 100%!

we are pleased to announce that we have appoint AdFilms of Hamilton as our exclusive sales agency for pre-show advertising. Over the next few weeks we will be hammering out the details of the arrangement, but soon advertising opportunities will be available at both our locations.

Coming this week to Halton Green Screens monthly eco-film series at the Encore Cinema @ Oakville Mews:

Consuming Kids - the commercialization of childhood

Thursday, January 28, 2010  7pm

Consuming Kids throws desperately needed light on the practices of a relentless multi-billion dollar marketing machine that now sells kids and their parents everything from junk food and violent video games to bogus educational products and the family car.  Consuming Kids pushes back against the wholesale commercialization of childhood, raising urgent questions about the ethics of children's marketing and its impact on the health and well-being of kids.

THANKS FOR ALL THE INTEREST IN THIS POSITION - WE HAVE HIRED OUR NEW MANAGER. WELCOME ABOUT PAUL Thank you to everyone who applied, it was a very tough choice.

We need to reactivate our e-Bay store and to do that we need a creative, take charge person to help us manage it.  This is a part-time position working from the Oakville Mews Cinemas.

We are looking for a candidate with previous e-Bay selling experience who can perform in a "jack of all trades" role. The ideal candidate can work independently and must be comfortable with a computer, digital cameras and the internet. (Being able to assemble a box and pack it safely is another couple of good e-Bay skills too).

Again, the position is part-time and the work hours are flexible. The pay is $15/hour and the perks include free admission to both of our cinemas and all the popcorn you can eat.

E-mail jknoll@film.ca if you are interested. Send along your resume and/or your expression of interest including an explanation as to why you are the ideal candidate and a general guess as to how much popcorn you are going to consume.
